The Birds & The Trees: Stirrings in the Piedmont is a 200 page volume that recounts a full year, in 12 chapters, each consisting of six short, meditative writings and six detailed pen and ink drawings, of my heartwarming communions with nature. These moments elicited ruminations on aspects of my own human seasons — aging, nesting, growth, renewal, decline — and slowly I became more connected to myself, my new home, my new geography, the seasons, and the great outdoors.
